The Interfraternity Council

The Old Dominion University Interfraternity Council (IFC) serves as the governing body for the nine national fraternities on campus.  The IFC men work together to unite fraternities in friendly competition, to focus on common goals, and to create a network of support for chapters and members.

The IFC and its member chapters are active in intramural sports, community service and supporting ODU athletic activities. Up to four delegates from each chapter serve on the council, while officers are elected from the different chapters to plan and support IFC activities.

This Year the IFC is making full efforts to be one of the most active and unified groups at Old Dominion University and in the general community. Recruitment efforts, and overall participation in events will only increase the benefits of being a fraternity man here at Old Dominion University.

Since 1966, fraternities and sororities have been a part of tradition and campus life at ODU. Greek members are very active on campus serving in leadership roles, on athletic teams, and giving back to both the campus and local community through service and philanthropy.

Each chapter at ODU is unique and offers an amazing experience of brotherhood and sisterhood that is unmatched by any other student organization. ODU fraternity and sorority members strive for high academic excellence and provide scholastic assistance to their members through tutoring, academic coaching, scholarships and awards. Greeks are actively involved in community service events, including the annual university service event, Relay for Life. Both on the campus and in the Hampton Roads community, ODU Greeks are committed to serving others and giving back.

The Greek experience is designed to develop leadership skills valued long after college. Greek life contributes to the development of social skills, interpersonal relations, communication skills, time management and self-confidence.  As well, it is a lot of fun!

We are very excited that you are interested in the Greek Community here at Old Dominion University!  Please feel free to look around our website and check out the information available on our chapters as well as some of their activities on and off campus.
