Theta Chi

It all begin in the Old South Barracks at Norwich University back in 1856. The greatest of men created it, and the greatest of men continue the tradition...

In 1888 Theta Chi Fraternity was incorporated under the laws of Vermont. From 1888 until the establishment of the Beta Chapter, fourteen years later, the history of the Fraternity is a history of steady growth of a chapter both in general strength and in members. Norwich University disbanded its fraternities in 1960, so Alpha Chapter no longer exists.

With the establishment of Beta Chapter at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at Boston Massachusetts, on December 13, 1902, a new era opened for Theta Chi, an era of country-wide expansion and national organization and administration. Although hindered by a serious depression and two world wars, Theta Chi has grown, and prospered beyond the dreams of the Founders to the position it now holds in the national fraternity scene.

Here at Old Dominion, Theta Chi continues to excell in all aspects of Greek life. After Greek Life came to the Old Dominion Campus in the 60's Theta Chi quickly became a colony and then the Zeta Pi Chapter at Old Dominion.

Since our initial creation here at Old Dominion we have reaped many benefits from the school but are continually giving back. With our meaning deriving from the saying "extend the helping hand" we work hard to give more than we receive and in the new millennium it has paid off.

The Zeta Pi Chapter has won several of Greek awards both nationally and at Old Dominion. On the national level the Zeta Pi chapter has won several awards including the number two rush video. In the spring of 2008 Theta Chi received the most outstanding IFC chapter award for the fourth year in a row.
Theta Chi at Old Dominion is not a simple standard fraternity. Theta Chi strives for excellence through brotherhood which has proven itself to work in the past and will keep the motivation going for years to come.
