Top Recruitment Chapter Fall 2008: Virginia

Organization Facts

Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity was founded on January 10, 1899 at Illinois Wesleyan College. Our founders were focused on building a fraternity in which the criteria for membership had nothing to do with a person's wealth, his rank on the social ladder, or any honors bestowed upon him. Over 100 years, 300 chapters, and 300,000 members later, it is safe to say that they have succeeded.

Chapter Facts

Formed in 1899, the men of TKE pushed hard to be recognized as a national fraternity. Here in 2008, the men of the Kappa Delta chapter are doing their best to make the five original founders proud of their hard work.

This year, the Kappa Delta chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon has been recognized as the top-recruiting chapter in Virginia with 24 potential new members in the fall. Along with that high honor, they are also the second highest rated chapter in the state.

In April, the 31 members of the chapter raised more than $500 dollars for the Ronald Reagan Alzheimer’s Fund with a Dodge ball tournament. With the great success of the event, it is set to become a yearly philanthropy event.

TKE has also made a name for itself in the community by partnering with WHRO in support of public radio. Not only have the men helped raise countless amounts of dollars in support, they have also earned more than 1200 hours of community service, which helped in the Virginia rankings of the chapter.

With everything accomplished this year, the men of the Kappa Delta chapter hope that the 24 potential new members will continue to fuel the fire that is the chapter as well as the Greek Community here at Old Dominion University and continue to help make both strong.
